Our Philosophy

Scallywags Childcare is a licensed, family child care facility located on the lower floor of our home. There are many opportunities for children to choose activities and play stations that interest them - dress up, trains and cars, the kitchen centre, tools, puzzles and colouring, Little People, pirate ships, play house, slides, Paw Patrol and so much more!

There is a large, fully fenced yard to play in complete with climbers, slides, water table, and many outdoor toys. We spend time outside almost every day. During warm weather, we spend a large portion of the day outside. We also go for walks to playgrounds to play.

We believe children learn best through play and thrive under a steady routine. Our program is designed to teach children age appropriate skills and concepts through play based learning.

We do circle and calendar time, singing, crafts, sensory bins and various activities to encourage motor skills. Some of the areas we focus on are letter and number recognition, name recognition, counting to 20 and learning the alphabet.

We also have two friendly cats who like to come spend time in the playroom, much to the delight of the children.

All staff have completed required training to be eligible for licensing and continue to further our education through multiple workshops during the year. We have a current first aid certificate and are registered with the Chilliwack Childcare Resource and Referral office. Criminal record checks are updated as required.

About Us

Every child is unique and we believe that success and growth come from encouragement and praise. We focus on building every child's self esteem and confidence through positive feedback and rewards. We nurture their natural strengths. A child sees the world around them with wonder and awe and we believe in encouraging their natural curiosity.

F.A.Q.

1. Do you take the affordable child care benefit(ACCB)?

Yes! Applications can now be submitted online and I can help with the forms if needed.

2. I qualify for the ACCB, do I have to pay anything?

You are required to pay the difference between the monthly fee and the amount the affordable child care benefit pays.

3. When are fees due?

Fees are due on the first day of each month. I accept cash and e-transfers.

4. My child will be away. Do I still have to pay for those days?

Yes. You are paying for your child's spot at the daycare and are responsible to pay the fees regardless of your child's attendance.

5. How many children are in your care?

I have a family childcare license, which allows a maximum of seven children.

6. What are your hours?

I am open from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, excluding statutory holidays. Extended hours may be available for additional fees.

7. What ages do you accept?

I accept children from 10 months to 5 years. I will accept older children providing they do not require transportation to or from school.

8. Do you provide before and after school care?

I will only provide before and after school care if you have transportation to and from school arranged for your child.

9. Can I come see your facility?

Definitely! Please contact me and we'll set up a date and time.

10. Do you take drop ins?

I absolutely take drop ins providing I have space available on that day.
